According to Bild, Koen Casteels would be open to joining Tottenham as he hopes to secure a move to a top club ahead of the World Cup.
It was Bild‘s Christian Falk who claimed that the 28-year-old Tottenham target is hoping to make Belgium’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
As a result, he could end up in north London with José Mourinho searching for a successor to the 34-year-old Hugo Lloris.
It was the Daily Mail who originally revealed that Spurs were interested in the 1-cap Belgium international, who has been described as one of Europe’s best.
As quoted by BulliNews, Jörg Schmadtke – VfL Wolfsburg’s Sporting Director – said: “Koen has developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world at VfL, and his quality and character are a huge support and a role model for the whole team.”
In that respect, Spurs should pounce while the shot-stopper is thinking about an exit from the Bundesliga.

It’s safe to say that Casteels has enjoyed a brilliant season so far.
The Bonheiden-born glovesman has made 26 Bundesliga appearances this term, where he’s proved especially difficult to score past.
Casteels has kept an impressive 13 clean sheets from those outings, meaning he shuts out the opposition once every two games on average.

Additionally, he’s conceded just 21 goals in those games, which is very good.
Tottenham have enjoyed success with Belgian recruits such as Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembélé and Toby Alderweireld in the past.
Could Casteels be next? We’ll just have to wait and see, but the signs are promising.
