According to ESPN, Arsenal are happy to sell Lucas Torreira for just £15 million this summer following the death of the player’s mother.
The 26-cap Uruguay international has been left unsettled by the development, and wants a return to South America in order to be closer to home.
Arsenal are sympathetic to Torreira’s situation, but will not let the man they paid £26 million for in 2018 go for anything under £15 million.
That is fair enough, as the Gunners would already be taking an £11 million loss on their initial investment.
It’s been a turbulent few years for Torreira following a brilliant debut season at the Emirates Stadium, where he shone in defensive midfield.
However, Unai Emery saw him more as an attacking midfielder, and played him further up the pitch during the 2019/20 campaign, in which he was sacked.

Since then, Mikel Arteta never really took a liking to Torreira, despite calling him ‘superb‘ following his first three appearances after Emery left.
The Uruguayan eventually joined Atlético Madrid on loan, but Diego Simeone has barely used him.

Torreira has started just three games in La Liga, and only made five substitute appearances in the Champions League.
It’s best for all parties to let him return to South America, especially following the death of his mother.
