Liverpool midfielder Fabinho was photographed meeting with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez on Tuesday night, but that sounds much more ominous than it actually was.
Actually, it looked to be a relatively innocent encounter.
Liverpool lost 3-1 away to the Spanish giants in the Champions League in midweek.
After the game, Fabinho met up with fellow Brazilian Vincius Junior – who scored twice in the game – and the Blancos’ president happened to stop by.
Perez once signed Fabinho as a teenager way back in 2013 on a loan agreement, before the player wound up joining Monaco – and later Liverpool for £39 million in 2018.
And here’s how some fans of the Santiago Bernabeu reacted to the snap of Fabinho and their club president.
There is clearly a mutual respect and affection between Fabinho and the Spaniard.
But the towering Brazil international won’t have any designs on leaving Liverpool anytime soon.
Yes, this has been a disastrous season – and even more so if Real Madrid finish the job at Anfield on Wednesday night – but there has been exceptional circumstances, particularly their shocking injury crisis, and the big man and his Liverpool team-mates will be determined to put it right next term.
