Robert Lewandowski told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (07/04/21 at 7:45 pm) that reported Liverpool and Manchester City target, Erling Haaland, has the chance to be ‘the best striker in the world’.
Many would argue that it’s the Bayern Munich star himself who is the world’s best number nine, but the 32-year-old has some serious competition.
One comes in the form of a man not far from his doorstep in Bavaria, but could Haaland soon be swapping the Bundesliga for the Premier League soon?
Whatever comes of Haaland’s future, many, including Lewandowski himself, are predicting that he will go right to the top, one day.
“He’s a great player,” said Lewandowski. “He has huge potential. And he’s still very young.
“If I see his face and how hungry he is to score goals. In the future, he has a chance to be the best striker in the world, for sure.
“But sometimes when everything is going well, it’s really not easy. But if you see him, he has scored so many goals and he’s so young.
“It’s great to play in the Bundesliga and it’s great to see a young player in this league and compare. He is the player who can be the best, but I want to play at the highest for many more years, so I am happy to be there where I am.”
Haaland was on English soil on Tuesday night with Dortmund, who suffered a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League – another club keen on his talents.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth did previously claim that the 20-year-old would be keen on a move to Liverpool, whilst 90 minutes suggest that both Pep Guardiola and Chelsea are also chasing the £66 million star.
And with 33 goals to his name from 33 matches this season, including 10 in seven in the Champions League, it’s no surprise that the worlds best are looking to acquire a player who is destined to become the best.
