Adrián has revealed that he’s currently in talks with Liverpool over a new contract, in what is something of a shock development in his future.

In what sense? Well, according to La Razón, the Spaniard doesn’t want to stay at Anfield.

La Razón claim that the 34-year-old wants to join Real Betis when his contract with Liverpool ends in June.

Manuel Pellegrini is currently in charge, and Adrián is said to be keen on a reunion with the Chilean who he worked with at West Ham.

However, it now sounds like he could stay in Liverpool, depending on how these contract talks go.

Speaking to Marca, the £50,000-a-week glovesman said: “I am happy here. It is true that this second season, personally, has been quite irregular. The club has made me see that they are happy with me. We are in talks, but nothing is clear yet. It will have to be solved between now and the end of the season.”

La Razón weren’t the only ones suggesting Adrián could leave.

Back in January, Estadio Deportivo claimed that both Liverpool and the shot-stopper were open to the idea of him leaving Anfield before the winter deadline.

Adrián lost his place as Alisson Becker’s deputy when Jürgen Klopp handed 22-year-old Caoimhin Kelleher a run of games in December.

Because of that, as well as reports from Estadio Deportivo and La Razón, it would be a huge surprise to see him stay on Merseyside.

In our view, he should go.

Adrián is good enough to be No.1 elsewhere, while Liverpool also shouldn’t be paying their third-choice goalkeeper a £50,000-a-week salary.

It’s best for everyone if the Spaniard packs his bags and finds a new club.
