The Mrs Sri Lanka Fight video has been trending on the internet for the past few days. Viewers across the world were shocked after the finale was aired on Sunday, April 4. The event got upstaged when a former Sri Lanka beauty pageant winner, Caroline Jurie got into a brawl with Pushpika De silva after she was announced as Mrs Sri Lanka 2021.
Who is Caroline Jurie?
Caroline Jurie is Mrs Sri Lanka 2019 pageant winner. Her Instagram handle reveals that she also won the Mrs World 2020 title last year. The pageant winner is also a social media celebrity with over 78,000 followers on Instagram. She often shares pictures with her husband and daughter.
Caroline was present as a host for Mrs Sri Lanka 2021 pageant.
What did Caroline Jurie, former Mrs Sri Lanka do?
A theatre in Colombo was the event’s venue on Sunday night.
At the end of the show, the judges named De Silva as Mrs Sri Lanka 2021 winner. They gave her the crown. But we see in the Mrs Sri Lanka fight video, that Caroline Jurie proceeded to claim that Pushpika De Silva was not the winner.
She then approached De Silva trying to rip the crown out of her head. The runner-up contestants stood there in shock as a Beauty Pageant fight ensued between the two.
According to a BBC report, the national director of Mrs Sri Lanka World, Chandimal Jayasinghe, clarified that they returned the crown to De Silva. He informed the BBC that the police had taken Caroline for questioning about the incident.
Why did Caroline Jurie rip the crown?
When the jury announced De Silva as the winner, Caroline Jurie took the mic. She said, “I have a small request. As for the Mrs World, there is a rule that you have to be married and not divorced.” Jurie claimed that De Silva is divorced hence the crown must go to the first runner up.
Pushpika De Silva reacts to Mrs Sri Lanka fight video
Pushpika De Silva is the winner of Mrs Sri Lanka 2021. The beauty pageant winner took to Facebook to reveal that she had sustained head injuries. De Silva wrote, “The pain of my skull when my crown was snatched from my head by the world married beauty queen, the pain I felt when I lost the crown is more than both. Mother’s head is injured right..? Does it hurt mom?” I can’t bear the pain I feel when my son listens.”
Clearing the air on her relationship status, De Silva claimed in the Facebook post, “On the other hand I’m not a divorced woman. I say with great responsibility that I am not a divorced woman even at this moment of writing. If I was a divorcee, I would dare them to submit my divorce scripts. I haven’t hidden from the world that I’m with my child. I also have personal reasons to be that way. But, being apart is one. Divorce is something else. I’m still an un-divorced woman.”
