What we know so far about Redo of Healer season 2 release date and renewal status

Redo of Healer episode 12 is the last episode of this season and fans are wondering if Redo of Healer will return for season 2.

Redo of Healer is an anime adaptation of a novel by the same name, written by Rui Tsukiyo. The anime version is directed by Takuya Asaoka and written by Kazuki Fudeyasu.

Though controversial, the Redo of Healer anime has been wildly popular with thousands of fans across the world. They have all been following the first season, which is set to end this week, with episode 12.

So, will Redo of Healer return for season 2?

Will there be a season 2 of Redo of Healer?

However, earlier today the writer of the series posted on Twitter to say (Translated from Japanese to English), “When you look at the work that reports the decision of the second term or the sequel decision in the final story-“. (Please note translations are from Google Translate and not 100% accurate).

Many fans have taken this to mean there could be a movie with others expecting it to be a sequel in the form of season 2 for the anime, though it is unclear at this time.

Tsukiyo has posted on Twitter on multiple occasions to say there will be a season 2 if the Blu-Ray copies of the anime’s first season does well on sales. In January he posts “If it sells, there is a possibility of two terms, so I hope that it will sell more and more.”. (Translated)

The anime currently sits on IMDB at 6.1/10 and MyAnimeList at 6.29. These ratings on the reviews mean the anime series is seen by a majority of viewers as sub-par, leaving it unlikely for there to be a renewal of season 2 for Redo of Healer. Until there is a definitive answer, which is likely to be announced after the final episode, fans can catch up with season 1 or re-watch it on HIDIVE.

Redo of Healer: Season 2 release date…

As Redo of Healer has not officially been renewed for season 2, a release date has not been revealed. We will likely know more about whether or not there will be a season 2 and if it will be in production, following the release of the final episode.

Estimations based on the debut of the first season would mean season 2 is likely to be released in early 2022. Season 1 was announced in November 2019 and later released in January 2021. If we look at this on a 12-month basis, we can expect an announcement about the release date in November 2021, in time for the winter anime season.

Should there be a season 2, we can assume it will follow suit of season 1 and feature 3 different versions of the anime. These versions being: Censored, Uncensored and streaming exclusive.

Due to the controversial themes shown in Redo of Healer, we can also make an educated guess that if there is a season 2, it won’t be found on very many international streaming sites. However, we can hopefully rely on HIDIVE to keep streaming the series.

Redo of Healer: Adaptation from the manga

Redo of Healer originally started out as a dark fantasy novel series written by Rui Tsukiyo and released in 2016. This later was adapted into a Light novel, a manga series and anime series.

The anime is said to be based more on the light novel than the manga series. The light novel first released in July 2017 and ran for 9 volumes, the last one being released in December 2020. Though the anime is true to the novel series it, is said to include gratuitous violence. So much so that the anime was cancelled by Animoon for its impending release in Germany.

The plot for the novel and season 1, follows a man named Keyaru who hoped to save the world from demons. Instead, corruption makes him use his healing powers on the world, to go back in time and punish those that wronged him.

It is thought that if season 2 is renewed the direction it will go in would be dependant on whether or not the novel continues and where season 1 ends. Epic Stream has said if the anime continues to follow the novel “it will continue the adventures of Keyaru and the girls – and their quest to confront the Demon Lord.”. We can expect to know more after the season 1 finale.
