Since then, audiences have flocked to check in on their favourite characters of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. Season 6 welcomed fans back into the fold in November 2020 and there have been a number of breaks in the schedule since.

Chicago Med season 6: How many episodes?
It’s uncertain how many episodes will be included in Chicago Med season 6 just yet.
Besides season 1 – which was made up of 18 episodes – all seasons of the series have been made up of 20-23 episodes. Taking this into consideration, it’s unlikely that season 6 will break the pattern, so fans can expect more episodes to come after ‘Some Things Are Worth the Risk’.
Andrew Schneider on Chicago Med season 6
In conversation with One Chicago Center, executive producer Andrew Scheider opened up about how COVID-19 affected the scriptwriting process on season 6:
“It was something that we had to incorporate, being a contemporary medical show. One of the big challenges was trying to divine the state the country might be in, because of course there’s a lag time between when we develop a script and when [an episode] airs.”
He added: “When we started this process of development back in May, we didn’t know whether the country would still be in trouble, what the issues would be…”
Chicago Med returns on Wednesday, April 21st 2021.
