Highly-rated winger Charlie Farr is set to be released by Aston Villa with many of his team-mates left stunned by the teenager’s imminent exit, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

With Villa making it their mission to turn Bodymoor Heath into one of Europe’s most prosperous academies – the La Masia of the Midlands, if you will – some tough decisions will need to be taken this summer.

While the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka, Aaron Ramsey and Jayden Philogene-Bidace were never going to depart – the teen trio are rated very, very highly after all – there are doubts about a number of talented youngsters in the U23s and U18s.

And, according to the Birmingham Mail, 19-year-old Charlie Farr is one of those who has fallen on the wrong side of the line.

The gifted right-winger has been in fine form recently, scoring twice in a 4-4 draw with Crystal Palace.

But an impressive string of performances are apparently not sufficient to earn Farr a new contract at the Premier League giants.

Interestingly, the report claims that many of his Aston Villa team-mates have been left shocked by the decision.

The Birmingham Mail claim that Michael Tait, Harrison Sohna and Lewis Brunt will also depart, though Tyreik Wright, Cameron Archer, Dominic Revan, Mungo Bridge are expected to stay put.
