Is the release date for Netflix’s Havoc confirmed? Let’s consider what we know about the movie starring Tom Hardy so far.

If you’re an aficionado of the action genre, Gareth Evans will have been on your radar for quite some time.

The 41-year-old Welsh filmmaker’s directorial feature debut came back in 2006 with Footsteps and he followed it up in 2009 with Merantau, an Indonesian martial arts film.

On the other hand, he began to demand the attention of mainstream audiences with his third feature, 2011’s The Raid.

This adrenaline-fuelled assault on the senses was acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. Over the years, this and its 2014 sequel – The Raid 2 – have been hailed as two of the best action movies ever made by many fans.

Since then he has created the TV series Gangs of London starring Joe Cole, but you may also remember that he helmed the 2018 Netflix horror Apostle.

Havoc: Netflix release date confirmed?

  • No, Havoc is yet to receive a Netflix release date but is definitely set to premiere on the platform. Considering recent production news, it likely won’t arrive until 2022.

The movie isn’t listed amongst Netflix’s slate of movies releasing in 2021 and What’s on Netflix addresses that filming isn’t expected to commence until late June this year, with much of the shoot set to take place in Wales.

Taking this into consideration and factoring in post-production and so forth, subscribers will likely be invited to tuck into it sometime in early 2022.

It’s due to be the first title to emerge from Gareth’s exclusive deal with Netflix to direct a number of movies.

As highlighted by Deadline, we already have an official logline teasing what’s in store:

“The story is set after a drug deal gone wrong, when a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.”

Viewers will be treated to a gritty crime-drama with an A-list cast, but who is already slated to star in Havoc?

Netflix: Who is in the Havoc cast?

So far, we have Tom Hardy and Forest Whitaker locked in to star.

The 43-year-old English actor and star of such films as Legend and Mad Max: Fury Road will be leading the film, presumably playing the detective role.

Then we have the 59-year-old American Academy Award-winner, who has showcased his talents in the likes of The Last King of Scotland, Black Panther, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Arrival and Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai.

More casting announcements will likely surface over the coming months as production fast approaches.
