Celtic legend David Provan has reminded the Rangers fans in The Scottish Sun what Ibrox star Allan McGregor did back in 2012.
The Scotsman has reminded the Rangers supporters that back in 2012 when the Gers were demoted to Scotland’s lowest league division due to financial problems, McGregor decided to leave Ibrox.
Important player for Rangers
The 39-year-old goalkeeper had made over 200 appearances for the Gers by then, and the Scotsman came back to Rangers in 2018 after spells at Besiktas, Hull City and Cardiff City (loan).
The veteran goalkeeper is having a brilliant season and has been crucial in Steven Gerrard’s side winning the Scottish Premiership title and reaching the Europa League Round of 16.
McGregor has just been rewarded with a new deal, and while Celtic legend Provan has praised him, he has reminded Rangers fans that like Steven Naismith, the goalkeeper, too, decided not to play for the Gers in the lower leagues.

Steven Naismith situation
In January 2018, The Scottish Sun reported that former Rangers player Naismith was ready to play for the Gers for free.
The 34-year-old Scotland international, now at Heart of Midlothian, was struggling for playing time at Norwich City at the time.
David Provan’s take
Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “When Steven Naismith offered to play for Rangers for nothing while out in the cold at Norwich, Ibrox fans weren’t having him.
“They wouldn’t forgive him for tearing up his contract when Rangers went into liquidation.
“Just as well there was less resistance when Allan McGregor agreed an Ibrox return after doing the same thing.
“At 39, the veteran is still showing why a shift in League Two under Charles Green was no place for him.”
