The Athletic claimed that both Liverpool and Spurs were keen on Konsa’s signature this summer – and Villa have made sure they don’t have much to worry about when the transfer window does re-open given this recent news.

Whilst Tyrone Mings is the Villa defender who has earned the England calls, many Villa fans will explain that it’s Konsa who has been their best performer at the back, not just this season, but since football restarted back in June.

Tottenham need Konsa’s talents more than Liverpool, but either way, it seems as though that’s another name chalked off their summer wishlist.

This is what Terry wrote on his Instagram story to the centre-back: ‘Congratulations @EzriKonsa on signing a new contract. Fully deserved mate and we are lucky to have you’.

Terry has no doubt played a huge part in Konsa’s rise because he has been one of the best performing CB’s in the Premier League this season.

Plus, he’s a big reason why this previously leaky Villa defence has secured 14 clean sheets during this campaign.

Konsa’s performances are clearly getting recognised given the rumours about his future, but with this new deal, Villa fans will be hoping that’s the end of it.

It has been well-documented, but a number of years ago, Spurs missed out on Jack Grealish’s talents and he is now one of the Premier League’s best.

With Konsa, it’s only a matter of time before he earns much wider respect for his performances because he is a serious, serious talent.
