The win has given the Baggies renewed hopes of escaping the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.

Sam Allardyce’s side are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 21 points from 30 matches, seven points behind 17th-placed Newcastle United, who have played 29 games.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and England international striker Lineker was following the match, and he has given his take on West Brom’s stunning win against Chelsea.

True, Chelsea had a one-man disadvantage for most of the match, but West Brom should be given credit for their performance.

The Baggies were the better team over the course of the 90 minutes and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.
