If you’ve been watching The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ and have watched episodes one to three then you know that the Smiling Tiger has come out to play.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is a real-life Marvel cinematic universe series starring Anthony Mackie as Falcon and Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier in the superhero special.
Read on to find out more behind the history of the Smiling Tiger and what it could mean for the future of the series.
Who is the Smiling Tiger?
- The Smiling Tiger aka Conrad Mack is Sam’s Madripoor alias. The Smiling Tiger is a long-established Marvel Comics character.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is by no means WandaVision but the two shows are big on giving little hints towards previous Marvel characters or narratives.
The hidden Easter eggs from the recent episode included the Smiling Tiger drink scene and also a nod to Wolverine. The most recent episode, “Power Broker,” saw Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, and Baron Zemo make their way to Madripoor. Marvel fans will know that this was where Wolverine once called home.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Marvel character explored!
Logan went undercover there and he also worked at “The Princess Bar,” which was in Lowtown. This place also draws ties to the criminal Tyger Tiger, whilst Sam was also impersonating the villain Smiling Tiger. Though this is not explicitly mentioned in the episode, any Marvel Universe superfans will have spotted the nods.
From Zemo’s orders, the Winter Soldier became reckless in the Madripoor bar fight. Bucky seems to have shown his true colours, or it may be a possibility that he was merely playing along in the same way Sam was pretending to be the Smiling Tiger.
Episode three definitiely hid some fantastic Easter eggs for us to scout out, stay tuned for next week!
