Did Peacock take Harry Potter off?
- Yes, the Harry Potter films were removed from Peacock at the end of March 2021.
Agonizingly for fans, the Harry Potter movies are no longer available on the Peacock streaming service as they were removed at the end of March 2021 and are not available as of April 1st.
The news was confirmed by the Peacock support Twitter account on March 31st, tweeting: “the Harry Potter films are not available on Peacock. We regularly change the content that is available on our platform.”
Why have the Harry Potter movies been removed?
According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBCUniversal said that the Harry Potter films will be available in windows, meaning they will come and go from the platform every few months.
NBCUniversal holds the TV and digital rights to the Harry Potter franchise until 2025 but in 2020 struck a deal with WarnerMedia to make the films available on HBO Max for its launch on May 27th.
The Harry Potter films were first made available on Peacock in October 2020 but were removed a month later in November.
The films returned to the streaming service in early 2021 but as of April 1st, the Harry Potter films are no longer available.
Is Harry Potter available to stream elsewhere?
No, Harry Potter is currently not available to stream legally anywhere in the US as of April 1st, 2021.
Due to the previous deal struck between NBCUniversal and WarnerMedia, there is a chance that the Harry Potter films could migrate over to HBO Max for a few months but that is yet to be confirmed.
