Relations between Everton and Liverpool have been particularly strained this season, all going back to their meeting at Goodison Park in October.

The two sides are separated by a matter of yards anyway, so they haven’t always been the best of friends anyway.

When they faced off earlier this season, Virgil van Dijk picked up a season-ending injury from a challenge by Jordan Pickford, and a narrow late offside call on Sadio Mane went against Liverpool.

Thiago also picked up an injury, with Richarlison sent off for a rash lunge on the Spaniard which left the midfielder sidelined for weeks.

Liverpool fans have been on Richarlison’s back ever since, so he certainly enjoyed scoring at Anfield in a 2-0 Everton win in February.

Now, Richarlison has joined Julio Cesar, David Neres and David Luiz in speaking to journalist Thiago Asmar on YouTube, and opened up on the situation with Thiago.

As originally translated by Sport Witness, Richarlison admitted that he actually messaged Thiago on Instagram to apologise, but the Spaniard left him on read.

Richarlison deleted his apology because Thiago didn’t want to reply, and the pair didn’t even look at each other when they faced off at Anfield last month as their fractious situation continues.

“The last game I made that challenge on Thiago and got sent off. My goodness. Then I went on Instagram to apologise and such. He only saw it. I said ‘I’m going to delete this message too, since he doesn’t want to reply’. Then I went there and deleted it.”

“He didn’t answer, no. Then there was the derby now, at their home, he didn’t look at my face, I didn’t look at him, either. The game goes on. He ignored the pigeon,” he added.
