A bunch of livid Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter in fury after reading a tweet from the Chronicle about Florian Lejeune.

The Chronicle relayed information from the CIES Football Observatory, whose data revealed that the Frenchman has been the Spanish club’s best player this season.

Now, you can understand why this has infuriated Newcastle supporters.

It was a controversial decision to loan Lejeune out at the time, given his standing among Newcastle fans as a solid, reliable option at centre-back.

The move was made to look all the more foolish after Arsenal decided to perform a U-turn on Rob Holding, who seemed likely to join the Magpies.

Steve Bruce’s side have also conceded the fourth-most goals in the Premier League with 48 concessions, so it isn’t as if they’ve been okay without Lejeune.

Of course, we can’t ignore the fact he was just returning from a serious injury and needed game-time.

However, why not just make it a short-term loan lasting for just six months, rather than the whole season?

Let’s see what Newcastle fans have had to say after reading the Chronicle‘s tweet…
