Aziah “Zola” Wells’ viral Twitter thread from October 2015 is being adapted into an A24 movie.
The 148-long Twitter thread, known online as #TheStory, is set to hit cinemas on 30 June 2021.

Who is Aziah Wells?
Aziah “Zola” Wells, who now goes by Aziah King, is the woman responsible for creating #TheStory.
In October 2015, Aziah took to Twitter to share her account of a wild weekend in Florida and her friendship with a woman named Jessica that quickly soured.
The two had met in March 2015 while Aziah was working as a waitress at Hooters. After hitting it off, Jessica invited Aziah to join her, her boyfriend Jarrett, and her pimp “Z” to Florida. Chaos, inevitably, ensues.
Zola will be played by Taylour Paige in the upcoming movie.
What happened to Zola?
Aziah “Zola” Wells is currently based in Atlanta, Georgia, according to her Instagram.
Since her original tweet went viral, Aziah has been very vocal about her experience. From profiles on Rolling Stone to Variety interviews with the whole Zola cast, the real Zola has never shied from the spotlight.
Now, Aziah is a mother to two children. In her Instagram bio, it says she is a “writer, artist & songwriter.philanthropist.”
