April Fool’s Day pranks to do over text
The Rick Roll
This one is pretty simple. All you have to do is text your friend saying something like “omg look at what has happened in our town!” and send them this Breaking News link.
It will take them straight to a YouTube video of Rick Astley’s 1987 hit “Never gonna give you up.”
The Mouse in the House
This prank works if you are living with the person you want to prank. You have to text them acting as though you are scared, and let them know you have just spotted a mouse in the house. For extra fear points you could find something small and stringy and place it under the fridge to make it look like a tail.
The Subscription
For this one, you will have to block your number before texting your friend, otherwise it won’t work. Send them a text pretending to be from a text subscription. It can be anything you like: daily pictures of The Rock, daily Bible verses, or something completely crazy.
When your friend inevitably tries to text ‘STOP’ keep texting them, and inform them that by doing so, they have applied for the premium deal and will be charged for the text messages.
The STD
This one is not for the faint hearted, and only try it out on someone you know will definitely forgive you. Block your number and text your friend the following message:
Through an anonymous notification service, one of your sexual partners wants to make sure you know that you may have been exposed to an STD.
The Text then Leave
This one works by asking your friend a worrying question then not replying for hours. Examples include:
Where is your fire extinguisher?
Do you know what to do if a microwave explodes?
Do you know what you should do if a goat gets into your house?
The Facebook Post
For this one, you will need to block your number. Text your friend something strange like “I’ve just seen your Facebook post and I am extremely interested in the llamas you have for sale, what price would you sell for?”
The Snapchat Story
This one is simple but cruel, and anyone with social media will know how it is completely fear-inducing. All you have to do is message your friend saying “did you know you just posted [insert something embarrassing] on your story?”
The Police are Here
All you have to do for this one is text your friend something like “the police are here” or “the FBI were here looking for you??” and sit back to watch them panic. The more shocked and curious you act, the more believable it seems.
The Text Replacement
This one requires a bit of planning. Go into your friends phone settings and change certain words to something different. On an iPhone you can do this by going Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement.
Ask your friend on text a specific question which will require them to text the word you have changed to something else. They will panic that their phone is broken or they’re losing their mind!
The Hell Yes
This one also requires some planning. Change all the variations of the word “no” in your parents keyboards to “yes” and ask them some outrageous questions. Watch them struggle as they try to tell you “no” but just can’t.
