Why is Nike suing MSCHF?

Nike has been vocal about not being a part of the collaboration. On March 28, they even released an official statement saying the same. Nike decided to take action because the satan shoes are a customized version of Nike Air Max 97.

They were disappointed that they were produced without “approval and authorization.” They believe the shoe has damaged the company’s reputation. The Satan shoes were criticized by many after it was revealed they contain a drop of human blood.

The lawsuit noted: “There is already evidence of significant confusion and dilution occurring in the marketplace, including calls to boycott Nike in response to the launch of MSCHF’s Satan Shoes based on the mistaken belief that Nike has authorized or approved this product.”

What are Lil Nas X Satan shoes?

The Lil Nas X ‘Satan Shoes’ is a collaboration between the rapper and streetwear company MSCHF. The pair are customizing Nike Air Max ’97 to give it a unique look. The shoes are “decorated with a pentagram pendant and a reference to Luke 10:18, a Bible verse about Satan’s fall from heaven,” as per NBC News. The shoes also contain red paint and a drop of human blood in the sole.
