On March 27, it was revealed that the rapper will be dropping ‘Satan Shoes.’This news was announced after the release of Montero (Call me by your name) on March 26. Some wondered if Nike was a part of the collaboration. However, on March 28, they denied this.
Whose blood is in ‘Satan Shoes’?
‘Satan Shoes’ is a collaboration between Lil Nas X and streetwear company MSCHF. The drop of blood that has been used in the shoe is drawn from members of the MSCHF team, as reported by NBC News.
For this unique look, Nike Air Max ’97 has been customized. The shoes are “decorated with a pentagram pendant and a reference to Luke 10:18, a Bible verse about Satan’s fall from heaven.”
On March 28, Nike had denied collaborating with the rapper on the same. The statement read: “We do not have a relationship with Little Nas X or MSCHF. Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them.”

On March 27, people got to know about the release of the shoes. These were met with mixed reactions. Some Twitter users thought it was a different idea that captured a unique style. Meanwhile, others questioned using human blood in the shoes.
Following this, on March 28, Lil Nas X tweeted a video and posted it with the caption: “Lil Nas X Apologizes for Satan Shoe.” The thumbnail for the video showed the rapper holding his Satan shoes with a crying emoji placed over them.
The thumbnail had everyone convinced that it was a sincere apology. However, as the video progresses, it cuts to a scene from his song where he is worshipping the devil. Despite the backlash, it does not look like the rapper is going to stop the release of the shoes.

The shoes will go on sale on 29 March 2021 at 11am EST. You can purchase them through the MSCHF app. The MSCHF website has listed the shoes as MSCHF Drop #43.
Only 666 pairs of shoes will be releasing. It is unclear if the rapper will bring more pairs in the future. The cost of a pair of ‘Satan Shoes’ is $1,018.
