John Aldridge has written in The Sunday World that Fabinho has been the best player for Liverpool this season.

The former Liverpool star has been impressed by the performances of Fabinho in midfield and in defence this season.

The Brazil international is a defensive midfielder by trade, but injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip saw the 27-year-old play at the back for a long period of time.

The former AS Monaco star is now back in midfield, and Aldridge has raved about him.

Aldridge wrote in The Sunday World: “And if I had to pick out a Liverpool player after a horrible season for Jurgen Klopp’s side, Fabinho has been the shining star both in defence and midfield.”

Liverpool’s best player this season?

Not many Liverpool players have been great season, as Jurgen Klopp’s side struggle to even finish in the Premier League top four.

Fabinho has not always been a rock at the back, but the 27-year-old has done well when he has been asked to play in defence and should be proud of his performances.

According to WhoScored, Fabinho has made 19 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League and has made five starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League this season.

One player who might argue with Aldridge’s claim is Mohamed Salah. The Egypt international forward is banging in the goals for fun and could end up as the top scorer in the Premier League this season. The former Chelsea man has already scored 17 goals.
