According to 90min, Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has told manager Jurgen Klopp that he will sign a contract with Barcelona soon if the Reds do not make him an acceptable offer.
It has been reported that Wijnaldum has a verbal agreement with Barcelona over moving to the Spanish giants at the end of the season.
The Netherlands international midfielder is out of contract at Liverpool in the summer of 2021.
The report has added that although the 30-year-old is still open to staying at the Reds beyond the summer of 2021, he has told his Liverpool manager Klopp that he will soon sign a deal with Barcelona if the Merseyside club do not make him an offer that is acceptable.
Big loss for Liverpool?
Wijnaldum may be 30 years of age, but he remains an important player in the team and one of the first names on the teamsheet.
The Dutchman would be a massive miss for the Reds if he leaves, and it would be costly as well for the defending English champions to replace him.
Wijnaldum – who has been on the books of Liverpool since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Newcastle United for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £25 million – has made 27 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League and has made six starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League for the Reds so far this season, according to WhoScored.
