Speaking to the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Martin Odegaard has waxed-lyrical about Arsenal ace Gabriel Martinelli.
The Norwegian midfielder has spoken very highly of the youngster, claiming him to be one of the the top young talents at Arsenal.
Odegaard was asked if there were any young players at the club impressing him, and he said that Martinelli is one to watch out for.
“Yeah. Obviously we have Bukayo [Saka] and Emile [Smith Rowe] and they are already playing so much. But I think one guy who hasn’t played that much lately is Gabi Martinelli.
“He’s such a big talent, you see him in training every day and you see it. He’s a really talented player with a lot of qualities, so I think definitely he’s one for the future. And he’s so young still, so I will go with him.”
Odegaard was then asked if he though Martinelli could have an impact at first-team level, to which he responded:
“Yeah definitely. As I said, he’s really young so he just has to keep working hard – as he’s doing every day in training.
“He will reach his goals because, from what I see every day in training, he’s a top, top talent. For him it’s just about continuing doing his work and then everything will come for him.”
This is high praise from a player of Odegaard’s quality.
We all know how good Martinelli can be on his day, we’ve just got to hope that he remains injury free and is able to fulfil that potential.
The Brazilian has clearly been shining in training lately, with fans previously being impressed by what they’ve seen and Odegaard now giving him praise.
Fingers crossed we get to see him in the starting XI sooner rather than later.
