According to Football.London, Arsenal central defender David Luiz is ‘a favourite’ of manager Mikel Arteta.
Luiz is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season, and, according to a report in The Sun in February, the Gunners plan to release him.
The report in Football.London has added that Brazilian star Luiz has also influenced youngsters Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli positively.
No future at Arsenal for David Luiz?
Luiz is prone to making errors, but the former Chelsea star is a very good and experienced defender who can also operate as a defensive midfielder.
The Brazilian will turn 34 next month, and clearly the former Paris Saint-Germain ace is past his prime.
Arsenal have too many centre-backs on their books at the moment, especially when one considers that William Saliba and Konstantinos Mavropanos are out on loan.

However, the importance of Luiz for the Gunners this season cannot be undermined.
According to WhoScored, the 33-year-old has made 16 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this season, scoring one goal in the process.
Luiz has also scored one goal in seven Europa League games for the Gunners this campaign, according to WhoScored.
