Gareth Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has told ESPN that the Tottenham Hotspur winger’s recent comments about going back to Real Madrid were taken out of context.
Earlier this week, Bale said in a press conference for Wales that he came to Spurs to get fit for the European Championship in the summer of 2021, as quoted in ESPN.
The 31-year-old winger added that he still has a year left on his current deal at Madrid and plans to go back to the defending Spanish champions at the end of the season.
Bale’s agent, Barnett, has now said that the Wales international winger’s comments were taken out of context.
Barnett has told ESPN in a story published this morning (9am) that it is “too early” to say where Bale will be next season, adding that his comments were “taken completely out of context”.

Future uncertain
Bale clearly is not a player Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane rates hihly. After all, the Welshman struggled to play regularly under the Frenchman last season after recovering from his injury problems and was sent out on loan to Tottenham in the summer of 2020.
It is hard to say what will happen regarding Bale. If Spurs finish in the Premier League top four and can convince Madrid not to demand a huge transfer fee, then perhaps the winger could make his loan deal permanent.
