Reported Arsenal and West Ham United target Emerson Royal plans to leave Real Betis this summer after two years on loan at the La Liga outfit, as reported by Goal.

After Argentina international Guido Rodriguez emerged as a summer target for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, it seems the midfielder’s Verdiblancos teammate is also on the Gunners’ varied hit-list.

Mundo Deportivo claims the London giants are watching Emerson closely following a season in which Hector Bellerin, Cedric Soares and Calum Chambers have struggled to nail down the role.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will face competition from London rivals West Ham, according to Calciomercato.

Bayer Leverkusen, Paris Saint-Germain and others have also been linked. But one thing’s for sure – Emerson is unlikely to still be wearing the green-and-white stripes of Real Betis for a third season.

Goal claims the 22-year-old Brazilian wants to test himself at a bigger club. Arsenal, despite their ongoing malaise, would still feel like a step up the ladder, while high-flying West Ham look destined to be playing European football next term.

The report adds parent club Barcelona could bring Emerson back to Camp Nou after being impressed by his development at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

But, if the cash-strapped Catalans receive an offer in the region of £23 million, Emerson may soon leave Camp Nou for good.
