On March 25th 2021, KSI shocked fans by announcing that he would be leaving Twitter, claiming that the social media platform was “full of pretentious people.”

This comes shortly after the YouTuber and rapper issued an apology on Twitter after coming under fire for using a transphobic slur in a video.

Whilst informing fans of his decision to leave the app, KSI (real name Olajide ‘JJ’ Olatunji) also stated that he understood why “Felix” AKA Pewdiepie left the app in 2019.

Why did KSI quit Twitter?

On March 25th 2021, KSI shared a shocking announcement with his followers on Twitter, and informed them that he would be leaving the social media platform.

He told fans:

“Twitter used to be an amazing place where you could connect with people in different communities & communicate without any problems.”

KSI continued to say that Twitter is now “full of pretentious people that are ready to cancel & destroy your legacy for breathing incorrectly.”

He finished off by saying: “And on that note, I’m out.”

KSI also referred to Pewdiepie’s decision to delete his Twitter account in 2019, saying that he “was ahead of the curve.”

KSI apologises for using transphobic slur

Earlier in March 2021 KSI came under fire online for misgendering a transgender person in a video with YouTube group The Sidemen.

The YouTuber was also called out for using a transphobic term.

KSI tweeted an apology, writing: “My bad for saying transgender slurs. Honestly didn’t even know they were slurs. I know now though.”
