Guido Rodriguez has no intention of forcing a move away from La Liga high-flyers Real Betis despite interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, as reported by Estadio Deportivo.
With Manuel Pellegrini’s side under pressure to raise funds this summer, player sales are inevitable.
But that doesn’t mean Betis will be entertaining offers for their ten-time Argentina international. Far from it.
According to reports coming out of Andalusia, Los Verdiblancos would rather sell William Carvalho – the man who has lost his place to Rodriguez in Betis’s starting XI – instead.
Estadio Deportivo, meanwhile, backs up claims that emerged earlier on Monday, reporting Arsenal have made contact with Rodriguez to gauge how he would feel about a summer switch to the Emirates.
But the tough-tackling defensive midfielder, who has a £68 million release clause in his contract, won’t be slapping down a transfer request any time soon.
Rodriguez has no plans to force a move to Mikel Arteta’s Premier League giants.
In fact, he would be happy to stay at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, with Real Betis well placed to secure qualification for the Europa League.
And while Arsenal showed plenty of character on Sunday, fighting back from three goals down to claim a point at West Ham, the chances of the Gunners joining Betis in Europe’s secondary club competition next season look slim.
