During his days at Anfield, Rodgers was a nearly-man and that was proven by them just missing out on the Premier League title and reaching an FA Cup semi-final.

That defeat to Aston Villa in 2015 was the last time Rodgers visited Wembley in an English domestic competition and he will be hoping to go one better with his thriving Foxes side.

A teenage Jack Grealish ran rings around Liverpool all those years ago, and whilst Southampton will be a tricky outfit, this Leicester team should progress through to the final.

But that’s where Rodgers has become unstuck before, whether it’s in Europe, or domestically and he will have to shut up a lot of critics.

Some serious quality stands in his way, firstly Southampton, and then either Chelsea or the seemingly unstoppable force that is Manchester City.

Regardless of what happens, the Liverpool supporters enjoyed seeing their bitter rivals crumble to a Rodgers masterclass yesterday.
