According to Marca, Real Madrid have picked out Levane winger jorge de Frutos as their preferred replacement for Lucas Vazquez.
It’s claimed that Vazquez will be leaving Real at the end of the season, with his contract set to expire this summer.
Real’s directors are allegedly ‘clear’ that De Frutos is the man to replace Vazquez, having only sold the 24-year-old to Levante this summer.
De Frutos has hit three goals and 10 assists in 31 games for Levante this season, and could now earn a swift return to Real Madrid.
Boost for Everton and Tottenham…
This looks to have signalled the end of Vazquez’s time with Real, and a move to England at the end of the season could be on the cards.
The Daily Star (28/02, p45) reported that Tottenham and Everton are both keen on Vazquez, and could move to sign him for free this summer.
With Real already looking at potential replacements, Vazquez looks set to be available – and that could mean Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti do battle.
But a blow for Southampton
The Mirror (28/02, p67) reported that Southampton had opened talks over a deal to sign De Frutos, seemingly trying to tee up a summer deal.
Now though, Real could swoop in and ruin their plans, leaving Ralph Hasenhuttl to go back to the drawing board in search of a new winger.
