Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen didn’t reprise their role in the 2016 sequel of Full House and a video claimed fellow actor Bob Saget might be responsible for their absence – but that simply isn’t true. Here’s the rumor debunked.

Netflix brought back the sequel to Full House – Fuller House – in 2016. Most of the cast from the show reprised their roles, while others made guest appearances. However, one character missing was Michelle Tanner, who twins Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen played alternately in the show.

Bob Saget Twitter rumor debunked

On March 19 2021, some people on Twitter started ‘cancelling’ Bob after a video was posted on March 17. As reported by Distractify, SL04N had uploaded the 24-minute video.

The clip contained snippets from Bob’s Comedy Central roast from 2008, in which celebrities make fun of him. The video featured clips from Gilbert Gottfried’s segment in which he joked about Bob’s relationship with the Olsen twins.

Some Twitter users mistakenly believed the content showcased in the video and went on to ‘cancel’ Bob. However, the video has no factual evidence and is completely false.

Many remember Saget as the family friendly father of three he portrayed in Full House but he was also known in the comedy world for his raunchy stand-up routines.

Bob Saget and Olsen twins relationship

In fact, it appears Bob and the Olsen twins shared a tight bond. They were pictured together even after the show came to an end. Bob played Danny Tanner in Full House, the twins’ father.

In a February 2021 interview with Today, Bob revealed he still keeps in touch with the twins. “(They are) just like my own kids,” he said. “Ashley and Mary-Kate, I love so much. When I’m in New York or when they’re here, when we can, we see each other.”

Why did the Olsen twins not appear in Fuller House?

After Fuller House was confirmed, fans were upset to find out the twins wouldn’t return. Producer Bob Boyett later admitted attempts were made to bring Ashley or Mary-Kate into the show.

However, the twins didn’t feel it would be the right decision for them at the time. Mary-Kate told Newsweek: “Ashley said, ‘I have not been in front of a camera since I was 17, and I don’t feel comfortable acting.’ It would have to be me because Ash doesn’t want to do it. But the timing is so bad for us.”

Bob Saget passes away

Sadly, Bob was found dead at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Orlando, Florida, on January 9 2022 at the age of 65.

He had performed at a stand-up show just hours before he passed away, The Sun reports. The cause of death has yet to be announced but the Orange County Sheriff’s Office tweeted: “The man was identified as Robert Saget and pronounced deceased on (the) scene. Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case.”
