Speaking on his podcast, Leeds United journalist Phil Hay has shared an update on why Liam Cooper is out of action at the moment.
The only communication that we’ve had so far from the club is that he’s ill, and as we know, that could mean a plethora of things.
Of course, in these times, illness is heavily implied to be a case of coronavirus, and according to Hay, that is the case here.
“Liam Cooper’s still ill, our understanding is that it’s Covid although the club aren’t talking about that and Bielsa never comments on it either,” Hay said.
“He wasn’t in the Scotland squad earlier this week and then Steve Clarke said Cooper would have missed the first two games if he was called up so you can read into that what you will.”

Cooper being out with covid is a big blow, and we can only hope that he recovers fully and swiftly.
Luckily, it doesn’t seem as though this case has spread across the camp and there’s no need for a match postponement, which is a scenario we’ve seen far too often in the Premier League this season.
Fingers crossed the Whites’ skipper is back fit and firing sooner rather than later, as he’ll once again be a big miss against Fulham on Friday.
