Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Fabinho’s contract situation at Liverpool.
We’ve heard plenty about Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah reportedly getting new deals at Anfield, but according to Romano, Fabinho is the one we should be looking out for.
Indeed, the higher-ups at Anfield reportedly have prioritised extending contracts this summer, and Fabinho is one player they’re seemingly desperate to tie down.
“They are with him, they are backing Jurgen Klopp, the situation with the Premier League is not the best one, but they are with him. They are planning for the future, so I want to say that Klopp is with Liverpool and is focused on Liverpool,” Romano said about Klopp before moving onto Fabinho.
“Their priority looking at the transfer window will be extending contracts, as we say van Dijk is one of the topics, but Fabinho. Keep an eye on Fabinho because Liverpool are pushing, they want to make a proposal to Fabinho, they are so, so happy with him. Jurgen Klopp is in love with Fabinho, so they are working to extend his contract and Fabinho is happy at Liverpool.”

It seems as though it’s just a matter of time before Fabinho signs a new deal at Anfield.
The player is happy, the club want him to stay, so it seems as though there are just a few details to iron out before this one gets done.
A lot has been made of the Reds’ rebuild in the summer, but while new signings will be important, keeping their current crop of stars will be equally as vital.
