Batwoman season 2 is currently airing on The CW and season 3 has been confirmed but recent rumours suggest the show could be cancelled.

Since it first arrived on The CW in October 2019, Batwoman has had a hugely troubled start to its life.

The show seemed doomed when original star Ruby Rose quit the project but has been given a new lease of life by the incoming Javicia Leslie as Batwoman 2.0.

However, recent rumours that have emerged online suggest that Batwoman’s time on our screens could be coming to an end.

Batwoman season 2

After season 1 of Batwoman was cut short thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, season 2 finally arrived on The CW on January 17th, 2021.

The new season introduced Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder who would take up the mantle of Batwoman following Ruby Rose’s departure after just one season.

The CW

Renewed for season 3

On February 3rd, 2021, after just three episodes of season 2, The CW announced that Batwoman had been renewed for season 3.

This is great news for fans as it means Javicia Leslie will get even more time to make the role of Batwoman her own after the show’s turbulent start.

The CW

Rumours about cancellation

  • Batwoman has not been officially cancelled at the time of writing.

However, a report from Giant Freakin Robot suggests that Batwoman will be cancelled at the end of season 3.

Despite that, the publication states that Javicia Leslie will keep her role as Batwoman and will likely appear in other shows featured in DC’s Arrowverse.

Citing a “trusted inside source”, Giant Freakin Robot revealed: “Batwoman is looking to get canceled by the powers-that-be at The CW. It sounds like that announced third season will be the show’s last.

“However, our source also says that the studio does not want to dispose of the Batwoman character at all. In fact, they want to use her in other shows after her solo series has ended.”

Batwoman season 2 is currently airing weekly on The CW.
