Reported Tottenham and West Ham United target Dusan Vlahovic is not ready for a big-money move away from Fiorentina, former La Viola ace Bruno Giordano tells Tuttomercatoweb.
One swallow does not make a summer and one hat-trick does not make a world-class centre-forward.
Then again, it was impossible not to be impressed by the way Vlahovic ripped into relegation-threatened Benevento on Saturday, finding the net three times before the interval as Fiorentina cruised to a 4-1 away win.
Not even the legendary Gabriel Batistuta managed to score a hat-trick in the first-half of a Serie A match. After following two close-range tap-ins with a sublime 25-yard lob, Vlahovic has a place to call his own in the Fiorentina history books.
But, according to Giordano, the 21-year-old needs to prove that he can produce match-winning displays on a weekly basis before he even thinks about following Mo Salah, Federico Chiesa and co out of the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
“Vlahovic? It’s an interesting prospect, but I don’t see him ready for a top European team. Another year in Florence would do him good,” says Giordino.

After netting 12 times in an impressive breakthrough campaign, West Ham and Tottenham have both been linked with the left-footed centre-forward, via Calciomercato and La Repubblica.
And, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Vlahovic is resisting Fiorentina’s attempts to tie him down to a new, long-term deal despite the fact that owner Rocco Commisso is willing to treble his wages.
Giordino may believe that Vlahovic would be better off staying put but it seems the man himself sees things differently.
