According to UOL Esporte, Santos are expected to tie up a new deal for Arsenal target Kaio Jorge – but they have agreed to let him leave this summer anyway.

Kaio Jorge is out of contract at the end of 2021, meaning he would be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with European sides this summer.

Santos are fretting about that possibility, and are now pushing for the teenager to pen a new deal and preserve his value to the club.

They hope to have a deal done ‘in the coming days’, with wages still something of an issue, but it’s all heading the right way having previously looked ‘unlikely’.

However, the report adds that Santos have promised to sell Kaio Jorge this summer for a good fee, with the player and his family happy with that agreement.

The new deal is effectively just to ensure that Santos get a fair price rather than keep Kaio Jorge long-term, and that will still give Arsenal hope.

Arsenal are pursuing Kaio Jorge according to Calciomercato, with Edu well aware of Brazilian football’s top talents, and this news means a summer deal could still happen.

Branded ‘the new Ronaldo’, Kaio Jorge has only scored nine goals in 51 games for Santos, but the 19-year-old clearly has huge potential – and Arsenal will be monitoring news about his contract situation closely.
