Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Gabriel Martinelli posted footage of himself at London Colney on Instagram.

The 22-second video shows the 19-year-old doing some finishing drills, which are heavily focused around the centre of the goalmouth.

That has led some fans to suggest that Mikel Arteta is converting Martinelli into an out and out centre-forward.

The Brazilian has played there a few times already for Arsenal, and has done well.

Transfermarkt shows that, in nine appearances at centre-forward for the Gunners, Martinelli has scored seven goals and assisted another.

In that respect, it would come as no surprise whatsoever if Arteta does view the £6 million man as a centre-forward.

The footage shows Martinelli meeting a cross from out wide with a delicious bicycle kick, which nestles into the top corner.

It also shows the South American being fed passes from the centre, where he has to turn his man and then stick the ball into the back of the net.

It very much appears to be a drill that only a central striker would be doing.

Imagine a front three of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, with Martin Ødegaard behind them – that is simply mouthwatering.

Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about the 22-second footage…
