Is Tom Cavanagh leaving The Flash?

  • No, Tom Cavanagh is not leaving The Flash. The series’ showrunner has confirmed that the 57-year-old Candian actor is still part of the project moving forward.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Eric Wallace explained:

“No, Tom Cavanagh is still part of the show. I would just say that we’ve already seen there’s an infinite number of Wellses. Just because they’re all dead doesn’t mean that should change. And Tom Cavanagh has more to do in season 7 — much more to do.”

While in conversation, he was asked whether he viewed Nash sacrificing himself as his way of making up for starting Crisis: “That’s a sub-theme. We don’t really talk about it overtly, but he does make amends for the biggest mistake one can possibly make, which is causing all of the worlds to die, essentially, and being kind of taken over by the Anti-Monitor.

“What he’s doing here is he’s taking, from my point of view, the greatest superhero in the Arrowverse, the Flash [laughs], and enabling him once again to do his job. There could be no greater way to honor and make amends than doing that…”

So, rest assured, you can expect Tom Cavanagh to remain part of The Flash crew.

The Flash: The return of Harrison Wells in season 7

Essentially, season 7 has ushered in the original Harrison Wells, having the Earth 1 incarnation resurrected.

In episode 3 – ‘Mother’ – a Wells manifests in front of Barry and it’s revealed that he is the same Harrison Wells that Reverse-Flash killed before the pilot.

He informs Barry that he believes the universe made somewhat of a correction by allowing just one Wells to remain after the other were absorbed into the Artificial Speed Force.

As highlighted by Syfy, this original Wells can time travel and possesses some of the knowledge and abilities of the previous.
