Jamie Carragher has admitted that he would love to see Erling Haaland in a Liverpool shirt next season.

Speaking to Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports, Carragher was asked who he would prefer to sign out of Haaland and Kylian Mbappe for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

And the Liverpool legend suggested that he has changed his mind and would now go for Haaland over Mbappe, if he was in charge at Anfield.

“I’ve watched the clips today and I’ve always gone with Mbappe before but there’s something about Haaland. He looks mad, but in a good way,” he said.

“You see the celebration in the Champions League with the goalkeeper? I loved it. I’d go for Haaland.”

Both Haaland, who has a £66 million release clause in his contract which kicks in next year (Sky), and Mbappe are actually said to be willing to move to Liverpool, but whether the Reds would have the money to afford either remains to be seen.

If Liverpool are to pull off the transfer they will also surely have to be in the Champions League.

The Reds are currently trailing the top four, and they have work to do if they are to make up the ground on the likes of Chelsea and Leicester.

Without top level European football on offer it is difficult to see either Mbappe or Haaland signing.

But Goal does say that Liverpool will be looking for a striker in the summer, and if they were able to get a deal over the line for either of the pair they would be a wonderful addition to Klopp’s squad.
