Kean Bryan is expected to leave Sheffield United when his contract expires at the end of this season, as reported by the Sun (14 March, page 59).

How many of this current Blades squad will be playing Premier League football next term?

Another way of phrasing that question would be: ‘How many Sheffield United players will leave Bramall Lane for another top-flight club’?

With relegation now just a few weeks away, it looks set to be an intriguing summer in the Steel City.

The likes of John Fleck, George Baldock and Aaron Ramsdale were linked with rival Premier League clubs last year and it remains to be seen if they, amongst others, will be offered the chance to jump from a seemingly sinking ship in the off-season.

One player who does look set to depart, however, is Bryan.

The former Manchester City youngster will be a free agent in July and The Sun believes that Sheffield United are fighting a losing battle as they look to tie Bryan down to a new contract.

“I’m delighted for Kean,” Chris Wilder told the Star last week, a few days before walking away from his boyhood club.

“He came through at Man City and was highly thought of for a long time.

“He maybe fell a touch short there and has had injury issues, but it’s opened up for him and given him an opportunity to go and play in the manner that he has done over the last couple of games.

“He has put a strong claim down to earn a contract and move forward with it in the remaining games.”

Bryan has been one of the few bright sparks in a miserable season for Sheffield United, scoring a famous goal in February’s 2-1 win at Manchester United.

The Sun does not make clear if the 24-year-old has admirers elsewhere in the Premier League but promising, adaptable and technically-gifted central defenders are always in high demand.
