A San Francisco Police report states that Malaysia King has been arrested and Arna Kimiai is handing herself in to police in connection to footage that went viral involving the assault of an Uber driver.
The footage had been going viral on social media this week, showing three females harassing an Uber driver in San Francisco.
Clips show the women refusing to wear a face mask before coughing in the driver’s face, pulling off his mask and verbally abusing him.
San Francisco Police also report that the women stole his phone sprayed what is believed to be pepper spray onto him.
Two of the women involved have been named as Malaysia King and Arna Kimiai, however the third is unknown.
Who are Malaysia King and Arna Kimiai?
Malaysia King and Arna Kimiai are two 24-year-old women who have gone viral on social media this week after footage showed them harassing an Uber driver in San Francisco this week.
Uber driver Subhakar Khadka picked Malaysia, Arna and a third friend up at around 12:45pm on Sunday, March 7th 2021.
A GoFundMe Page has been set up for the Uber driver and over $66,000 has been raised as of March 12th.
Now, Malaysia King has been arrested and Arna Kimiai is reportedly handing herself in according to a statement from the San Francisco Police Department.
Malaysia King has been arrested
The San Francisco Police Department announced in a statement on Thursday that Malaysia King has been arrested and charged in relation to the Uber driver attack.
“The San Francisco Police Department today announced that an arrest has been made in connection with the March 7, 2021 aggravated assault and robbery of a 32-year-old Uber driver,” the SFPD said.
San Francisco Police revealed that they worked with the Las Vegas Police Department to arrest her, writing: “Police officers from the Las Vegas Police Department earlier today apprehended 24-year-old Malaysia King in connection with the incident.”
According to the statement, Malaysia has been arrested on an Arrest Warrant for charges of “assault with a caustic chemical, assault and battery, conspiracy and violation of health and safety code.”
San Francisco Police say Arna Kimiai is handing herself in
The San Francisco Police Department statement also reports that the other woman involved, Arna Kimiai intends to hand herself in.
“Another suspect, 24-year-old Arna Kimiai, remains outstanding at this time, but communicated through her legal counsel late this afternoon to the San Francisco Police Department of her intent to turn herself in soon,” they wrote.
Lt. Tracy McCray, who heads the San Francisco Police Department’s Robbery Detail said: “We’re glad to hear that Ms. Kimiai intends to do the right thing and turn herself in to the nearest law enforcement agency, and we hope it happens promptly.”
“The behavior captured on video in this incident showed a callous disregard for the safety and wellbeing of an essential service worker in the midst of a deadly pandemic. We take this conduct very seriously in San Francisco, and we’re committed to ensuring that justice is done in this case,” she continued.
