According to the Scottish Daily Mail (11/03, p92), Juventus scout Matteo Tognozzi wants to speak to Celtic about becoming their new director of football.

Celtic are set for massive changes this summer, with a new manager on the horizon having parted company with Neil Lennon last month.

There will be other changes too though, with a director of football now wanted to help take Celtic forward on and off the pitch – and Tognozzi seems keen.

It’s stated that Tognozzi wants to speak to Celtic about the job, seemingly making it clear that he fancies a move to Parkhead this summer.

Tognozzi has held key scouting roles around Europe with Zenit St Petersburg, Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen, before heading to Juventus in 2017.

Now one of the key parts of Juventus and their recruitment strategy, the scout wants to take on a bigger role with his next job – and that could come with Celtic.

His knowledge of the European market is what Celtic are looking for, and that he wants to initiate talks with the Bhoys is a very encouraging sign.

With compatriot Enzo Maresca strongly linked with replacing Lennon, Celtic could have quite the Italian feel this summer.
