Don Johnson appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week and revealed that he actually cut Dakota off financially as a teen.

Don Johnson stopped supporting Dakota financially

Don Johnson appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week and revealed that he cut off his daughter Dakota Johnson financially as a late teen.

He explained that amongst his five children, he had a rule that he would carry on supporting them under one condition.

“We have a rule in the family that, you know, if you stay in school, you get to stay on the payroll. So, you go to college, you get to stay on the payroll,” he said.

Then, he continued: “Toward the end of high school, I went to [Dakota] and I said, ‘So, do you want to go visit some colleges?’ Or something like that. And she was like, ‘Oh, no. I’m not going to college.'”

So, Dakota was cut off financially after she refused to go to college.

He then asked Dakota how she was going to manage financially to which she replied “don’t you worry about it”.

Then, three weeks later, she was cast in The Social Network, and everything worked out just fine.
