According to L’Equipe, Leeds are interested in signing Brest midfielder Romain Faivre, who is enjoying a fine season over in France.

The 22-year-old has made 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals while also recording three assists.

Brest value him at £17 million, but if Marcelo Bielsa is to sign him, he must fend off some serious competition.

L’Equipe add that Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are also keen to sign the Frenchman.

You may not know much about Faivre, as he’s still relatively young and is a fairly unknown commodity here in England.

However, there’s been one comparison made which might resonate with fans of the Premier League quite well.

Ligue 1’s official website likened the France Under-21 international to a young Hatem Ben Arfa, which is pretty high praise.

Of course, the Frenchman moved to Newcastle from Marseille in 2010, and set the Premier League alight with his dazzling skills and flamboyant playing style.

By this, it’s clear that Faivre is a keen dribbler of the ball.

That notion is emphasised further by the fact he was outperforming Neymar in the dribbling department back in October, as Ligue 1’s official website revealed.

He sounds like an exciting player who has plenty of time on his side to improve.

Leeds will have to fend off big clubs in Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, but if they can land Faivre, it should be considered a real coup.
