Stade Brestois will demand a minimum of £16 million for reported Leeds, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain target Romain Faivre in the summer transfer window, according to Jeunes Footeaux.

While Brest director Gregory Lorenzi tried to quell speculation surrounding one of Ligue 1’s rising stars, he did make one comment that will put Faivre’s many suitors on red alert.

“We know that because of his performances, he will be a sought-after player. And we know very well that, in the face of a certain level of offers, we will not be able to retain him,” Lorenzi tells L’Equipe.

To put it simply, Brest will sell if they receive an offer they can’t refuse.

One of French football’s most exciting, free-flowing sides paid Monaco just £300,000 for Faivre in July last year and the skilful attacking midfielder is destined to command a far larger fee only one year on.

Reports today claim the bidding will start at £16 million, with Brest unwilling to even consider offers below that amount.

L’Equipe adds Faivre is a target for Leeds, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, while Man United and PSG were also linked via Le10 Sport last month.

The Whites should have plenty of money to spend after all-but sealing Premier League survival.

And Faivre, with his eye for a defence-splitting through ball, could be the creative central midfielder Marcelo Bielsa has been looking for.
