The season finale of L.U.C.A.: The Beginning has just premiered, but will the hit Korean series return for season 2 and if so, what date could it release?
2021 may only be a few months old, but it has already been a fantastic year for fans of Korean dramas.
From River Where the Moon Rises and Vincenzo, to Run On and L.U.C.A.: The Beginning, it feels like there is always a K-drama to fall in love with.
The latter series, LUCA, concluded this week, but will the series return for season 2 and if so, when could it premiere?
L.U.C.A.: The Beginning season 2…
- At the time of writing, L.U.C.A.: The Beginning has not been officially renewed for a second season by tvN.
Following the season finale, there are a lot of discussions online about a potential second season of LUCA.
Then we have the fact that season 1 was only 12 episodes long; typically, Korean series that have 16 episodes are unlikely to be renewed, so the number of episodes (12) is cause for hope that LUCA could return.
Finally, some viewers have commented that this first season has essentially been a prequel for season 2; with Zi O and Gu Reum’s daughter fighting against her brothers – the title including ‘Beginning’ suggests this also.
However, if a second season of LUCA had already been planned, then we likely would have already received that news either before or immediately after the season finale.
Additionally, as pointed out by blogger JazmineK, the story ends on a realistic note with episode 12 and a second season means a larger budget for the production is required.
Unfortunately, it looks like fans will just have to wait and see what the future holds for L.U.C.A.: The Beginning. This article will be updated as soon as more information is revealed.
L.U.C.A.: The Beginning: S2 release date….
As L.U.C.A.: The Beginning has not been renewed for season 2, there is no information about an official release date. However, we can make some predictions based on the production schedule from season 1.
Unfortunately, very little about the production for season 1 is available online, but we do know that the first articles on cast members were published in November 2019, with the first still images being released in December 2020.
Considering the extremely quick production of modern Korean dramas, a realistic estimation would be that production (following casting) lasted approximately 6-9 months.
Assuming that season 2 would experience a similar production schedule, L.U.C.A.: The Beginning could return as soon as September 2021.
The only issue is that the series is yet to be officially renewed, so the longer the series goes without a green light, the longer fans will have to wait for LUCA season 2.
Again, this article will be updated as soon as more information on L.U.C.A.: The Beginning is revealed.
