Noel Whelan has given his take on Leeds United’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham United at London Stadium this evening on BBC Radio Leeds (9:54pm, March 8, 2021).

Leeds have suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham away from home in the Premier League.

Jesse Lingard put the Hammers in the lead in the 21st minute, and Craig Dawson doubled the advantage on 28 minutes.

Leeds had a number of chances in the game and were also denied by the frame of the West Ham goal, and there was VAR controversy as well.

Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and the former Leeds striker has given his take on the final result.

The Englishman has pointed at the number of chances that the Whites had and was critical of striker Patrick Bamford failing to take two good ones.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (9:54pm, March 8, 2021): “We showed a lot of character in the second half, but you look at the chances, you have got to put them in the back of the net. You look at two Patrick Bamford ones, he is going to be so disappointed with the finishes on them.”

Former West Ham striker Carlton Cole has also given his take on the final result on Twitter.

Disappointing result for Leeds United

West Ham have been better than Leeds this season and are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table.

The Hammers did head into the match as favourites and were expected to win, and it did not come as a surprise that David Moyes’s side picked up all three points from the encounter.

However, Leeds had chances, with Patrick Bamford failing to convert an easy one, and the players will head back to West Yorkshire thinking ‘what if’.
