Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has said to the club’s official website that he will rest Pierre Emile Hojbjerg on Thursday evening.

Tottenham are due to take on Dinamo Zagreb in midweek, as they look to progress further in the Europa League.

Mourinho has stressed the importance of the competition to Tottenham, but after a busy week, he has also suggested that he will make changes.

And one of the players that will be taken out of Tottenham’s team is Hojbjerg.

“Sometimes people don’t understand that a team is a puzzle, it’s impossible to play with the most 10 creative players int he squad. We need to find balance,” Mourinho said.

“So he’s doing amazing for us. Also with the ball he’s not a creative player but he gives incredible balance and stability to the team.

“He’s doing a fantastic season, but I think Thursday he will be his day to sit next to me like today was the day for Tanguy.”

With Hojbjerg absent, it will be interesting to see how Tottenham set-up.

The Dane has been one Mourinho’s most trusted players, and his ability to shield Tottenham’s defence has been vital.

The most obvious replacement for Hojbjerg would be Moussa Sissoko, who has lost his place more recently.

He may well start alongside Ndombele, who should be fresh after missing out on playing at all in Tottenham’s 4-1 win over Crystal Palace yesterday.
