Stuttgart director Sven Mislintat said that key players may be sold this summer amid reported interest from the likes of Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United, while speaking to Echo24.
This season, one of the nation’s sleeping giants has awoken, taking the top-flight by storm with their exciting, free-flowing brand of football after storming to promotion from the second tier. And we don’t mean Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.
With two-thirds of the season gone, Stuttgart are closer to the Champions League places than they are to the relegation zone.
The jet-heeled Silas Wamangituka has been the star of the show, drawing interest from the likes of Everton and Fulham while scoring 13 times in his debut Bundesliga campaign (Eurosport).
But the flying Frenchman, who has been likened to one Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is not the only member of Pellegrino Matarazzo’s squad with plenty of admirers outside of the Mercedes Benz Arena.
Argentina international forward Nicolas Gonzalez has held talks over a potential £27 million move to Tottenham, according to The Athletic, while Leeds boss Bielsa is also a big fan of his silky compatriot (Tuttomercatoweb).
“If it’s up to us, we want to keep the group together, that is clear. But if offers come, we would have to talk about them – also in the interests of the players,” former Arsenal and Dortmund director Mislintant said when asked about potential summer sales.
“I’m not torn when it comes to this topic. I’m pleased that the players took such a step. The fact that some of them were able to move into focus (and become targets for other clubs)
Speaking to Fussball Transfers last month, Gonzalez admitted that he was keen to test himself on ‘the next level’, adding that the chances of him departing in the off-season were ’50-50’;
The Mail, meanwhile, claims that West Ham United are in for Sasa Kalajdzic, the £15 million-rated, 6ft 5ins striker with 12 Bundesliga goals this season.
